Bishop James Dean Adams was born November 23, 1960 in San Francisco, California. After receiving Christ as his personal savior at age 18, his calling began. At age 20, under the leadership of his father, the late Dr. W.T. Adams, he began preaching and serving as an associate pastor of the Second Union Baptist Church in San Francisco.
Visionary leadership is the essence of Bishop Adams ministry, with emphasis in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, church government and leadership development; spiritual authority and protocol; the impartation, development, and release of spiritual gifts in the Body of Christ. His desire to develop strong leaders is emphasized through discipleship training and the understanding of spiritual authority and biblical order.
He began his tenure as senior pastor of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in San Francisco in 1988 and ministered to thousands through his local radio show “Touch the World” from 1988-1995. In November of 1988, he was consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, serving as the state Bishop of California from 1998 through 2000, and as the Bishop of 1st Assistants for the International Fellowship from 2000 through 2003.
He maintains affiliations with the Florida East Coast Association and the National Baptist Convention of America. A noted conference and convention speaker, he is the author of three writings: Understanding Your Ministry’s Vision, Kingdom Finances, and Radical Evangelism. He also co-authored The Apostolic Ministry in the 21st Century.
Bishop Adams currently serves as the Senior Pastor and teacher of St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. He is the proud father of six children.
